Millennials Lose It Over Losing Avocados

President Trump threatened to close the Mexico border on Twitter last Friday unless the Mexican government made short work of the illegal immigration problem. Experts across the country and both parties agree that closing the border would be disastrous for the United States economy. Mexico is responsible for 37 percent of imported auto parts, including wiring harnesses, as well as 60 percent of American produce. This could increase prices across the country and cost us billions in return trade with Mexico. But the more pressing problem is a President who makes sweeping announcements on TWITTER to distract from the more serious issues. This scheme started as early as January of 2017 when our newly inaugurated president was tweeting about the size of the crowd that turned out while quietly decreasing funding for the United Nations. SURPRISE! The Wage Gap is Real

I disagree with this article completely! First of all, using the Equal Pay Act as proof that women and men make the same amount of money is ludicrous. The government passed a law in 1964 outlawing the segregation of people based on their race, however, segregation still happens today it just goes by a different name (redlining). When the government outlawed alcohol across the country, everyone who wanted to drink still found a way to do so. While the Equal Pay Act was a step in the right direction it does not mean the job is done. Second, the argument that men are more educated is unfounded. Studies show that across all races women make up a higher percentage of college graduates. White women account for 56 percent of white college graduates and African American women make up 64 percent of graduates for their race. Critique of an Editorial

The article Why Does Alex Acosta Still Have a Job? is easily one of the most persuasive articles that I've read. It was hard to fight the feelings of disgust that rose up as I read through it, despite the knowledge that I was reading it to critique the argument and not for information. The topic of the article was the main source of persuasion. Any member of the public would be enraged at the idea of an abusive man getting out of his deserved punishment. On top of the emotionally stirring topic, Goldberg continued to use inflammatory language throughout her writing to incite more negative feelings towards Alex Acosta. The author herself has several years of writing and reporting experience. She has written three books and won a Pulitzer Prize for reporting on workplace sexual harassment issues. Before working for The New York Times she was a columnist for Slate and had her work appear in other publications. While she doesn't have any law experience listed, her previous work
